Kickalicious is a Lion

After living legend, Lions kicker Jason Hanson retired earlier this month closing his 21-year career (the only kicker I've known since I've been a Lions fan), the team promptly signed David Akers to a 1-year deal.

Then for the heck of it, the Lions today went out and signed Norwegian Youtube sensation Havard Rugland to the team. Rugland has been training in San Diego with a kicking coach ever since his Youtube trick-kick video went viral. He has a very low chance of making the team - heck, he's never even played American football, he only became interested in the sport in 2011 - but it's hard not to cheer for the guy.

I'm also of the mind that there needs to be WAY more creativity in NFL special teams. Rugland obviously has a golden foot, but he is also 6-foot-2 and 240lbs - if they put some pads on him and discover that he can throw a proper block or two, that might light up the eyes of a special teams coach.
